GPS-Tour.info - a project by outdoor enthusiasts for outdoor enthusiasts

The portal is an outdoor diary & a tour exchange. Committed individuals create an experience report of their outdoor activities and share them with others. Anyone can register for free, publish tours themselves and make them available for others to use for free. Many people have contributed to the success of our portal over the past years. A special thanks goes to all tour authors. We are convinced that especially these people make a valuable contribution to the quality and popularity of the portal.

A short history of origins

www.gps-tour.info is a project that was born out of a pure desire to experiment. Originally, the tour portal was a birthday present to an enthusiastic mountain biker (Ingo) from the circle of friends, who himself recorded and collected his tours using a GPS device. The portal was very well received not only by his circle of friends and mountain bikers - but also by other sports and outdoor enthusiasts. National and international inquiries proved that the time was ripe for a broader use of GPS in sports & tourism.

Due to the high interest, we have expanded www.gps-tour.info into a holistic outdoor platform. It is now one of the most innovative GPS tour portals in Austria and one of the leading ones in Europe. The preparation of the data is done on the highest technical level.

Technology and implementation

The technological know-how, programming and hosting are provided by the online agency XORTEX eBusiness GmbH from Neufelden im Mühlviertel (Upper Austria).
